Law of attraction is the universal law that says that like attracts like. That by focusing upon and holding the images of the things that we would like in our minds, we can attract them into our lives.
But is it really that simple ?
Millions of people have been exposed to this idea from the likes of The Secret and Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, yet many people have said that they have not had the success they have hoped for using law of attraction techniques.
So what do some of the worlds top law of attraction teachers have to say on the subject and do they have some tools, tips and techniques that could be helpful to us ?
"Be grateful for what you have now. As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at the never ending thoughts that come back to you of more things to be grateful for.
You have to make a start, and then the law of attraction will receive those grateful thoughts and give you more just like them." - Rhonda Byrne, The Secret
This seems to be an important piece that a lot newbies to the law of attraction miss. It's common to think that its the holding of the images and thoughts of the things you want that is the important piece. But really it's the EMOTION generated by those thoughts and feelings that are important.
It's not a mental process, it's emotional.
The mental images and thoughts are just to help you generate the emotions that you would feel if you had those things, so why not take a short cut and just go and feel those things because according to law of attraction teachers Abraham Hicks, that's where the power is.
"In the vibration of appreciation all things come to you. You don't have to make anything happen. From what you are living, amplify the things you appreciate so that they dominate the vibration you are offering and then only those things that are a vibrational match to that can come to you. Then sit back and know, "You ain't seen nothing yet !!!”
Here's a great video from them on "The Astonishing Power of Emotions" and how this process works for us on planet earth.
So it would very much seem that our real work is to generate the emotion of the things that we would like to experience in our lives.
"I'm grateful for always this moment, the now, no matter what form it takes." - Eckhart Tolle
Below Tony Robbins gives a great practical example of how to generate the emotion or "state" that will help us to attract the things we want into our lives.
" We all have the same human needs, and our nervous system functions the same way. So for example, when I'm turning around an athlete, we've all seen an athlete walk out and we think ' He's gonna miss the shot ' you know it, you can see it in his body, he's missing that certainty, that complete edge.
And that's a state and that state of mind can be triggered.
So for example, I took Andre Agassi, here's a guy that had been number one and dropped down to 32nd, and they brought him to me and he's not happy and he's working on his swing and I said ' Andre, when you hit the tennis ball perfectly you're not thinking about your swing.'
There's a state, so I show him films of when he won at Wimbledon, and he walks in a certain way and he owns it and he looks at the other side and he's got this look in his eye.
So I show him what he does both physically and with his focus and then contrast that with what he did when he lost at the French Open and he's destroyed there.
And you find those triggers and you can change the state."
Here's another great practical technique from Abraham Hicks you can use to generate the general feelings and emotions of the things you'd prefer, showing you how to actually prepare yourself for what you want.
