Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle, the most popular spiritual author in the United States

Eckhart Tolle is a world-renowned spiritual teacher and author who has been called “the most popular spiritual author in the United States” by the New York Times and “the most spiritually influential person in the world” by the Watkins Review.

He is the author of the number one New York Times Bestseller The Power of Now which has been translated into over 30 languages and the highly successful follow-up book A New Earth.

Living in London in his late 20’s after spending much of his life in a state of depression, Eckhart awoke one evening with negative thoughts and feelings that he says were “almost unbearable”, he then underwent what he describes as a profound inner transformation which altered his state of consciousness and changed his life forever.

“I couldn’t live with myself any longer.  And in this, a question arose without an answer: who is the ‘I’ that cannot live with the self? What is the self? I felt drawn into a void! I didn’t know at the time that what really happened was the mind-made self, with its heaviness, its problems, that lives between the unsatisfying past and the fearful future, collapsed. It dissolved. The next morning I woke up and everything was so peaceful. The peace was there because there was no self. Just a sense of presence or “beingness,” just observing and watching.”

In the short video below Eckhart talks with Oprah about the secret to stress-free living.

Eckhart Tolle on Law of Attraction

“The basis for effective action is to come into an inner alignment with the isness of this moment.

This is how it is, I gave the example ‘ I’m stuck in the mud ‘ this is the situation right now.

You become a victim in your own mind ‘ why is this happening to me ‘, victim identity, complaining.

But just look at the situation without labelling it ‘ this is where I am right now ‘ and you accept that this is how it is, the isness of life at this moment.

And then a greater intelligence arises because you become present with what is.”

Eckhart is a great exponent of meditation as a way for bringing ourselves into the present moment.

“Our minds are constantly at work, going over the same habitual thoughts again and again. The experience for most of us in any given moment is that we are stuck in our heads, disconnected from our bodies, and living one step removed from our immediate situation.

Meditation is a method for synchronizing body and mind in the present moment. When the body and mind are in sync, we are naturally relaxed, alert, open, and aware, and we experience ourselves and the world in a direct, unmediated way, without conceptual filters. It is this direct experience of the fullness, vitality, and splendor of life that is the gift of meditation.”

  1. Absolutely beautiful and mind blowing at the same time! If we could profoundly understand what we really are and give into this we would live our own metamorphosis and fly. Thank you Eckart and all those exquisite souls who have dared to go against what science and “religion” has taught us to opening our hearts to our true divinity.
